With PROMiSE pushing Math and Science instruction in Florida towards the same levels we have seen for Reading the past ten years, this has to be addressed...sooner, than later is my hope!

Oh yeah, "Higher pay was an important factor, too."

It is not always about the intrinsic rewards. Teachers are professionals with houses and cars to buy and families to raise. Ultimately, this is why I left the classroom during the exact critical period noted in this article. The ONE time where teachers could have been rewarded in a meaningful monetary way, they were NOT.
